Welcome SAFE Interns!

Ganesh Nair is a sophomore at Stanford University studying Public Policy and Human Biology on the pre-med track. He grew up in rural Arkansas, where his experiences in rural medicine sparked an interest in public health, healthcare access, and the policies that shape communities. Outside of school, he loves spending time outdoors, working out, spending time with animals, exploring natural parks, and getting involved in just about any conversation about medicine, politics, or science. He’s excited to be working with SAFE and helping advance evidence-based solutions to reduce firearm injury and improve community health.

Megan Beamsley (left) is from Madison, Wisconsin, and is a fourth year student studying neuroscience at the University of Vermont. If not swimming in a lake or hiking on a mountain, she’s usually helping out in a preschool and conducting childhood psychology research. She loves to explore new places and connect with people in different communities around the world and recently studied in South America, which acutely exposed her to how unique firearm violence is to the U.S. She was living outside of the country for the first time, but the public health crisis had never seemed more apparent once she was outside of it. She is excited to intern with SAFE this summer to help develop research on firearm-related injuries and the role medical professionals have in promoting safe storage.
